Mimi van Damme was born in Bruges, Belgium, and trained as an Architect at St Lucas Ghent., although she soon found her passion lay in the creative arts. She has lived in a number of countries, including Spain, USA, Netherlands, and Gibraltar. Currently she mainly creates paintings and welded sculptures, but in the past has also designed diamond jewelry, fashion and has had photographic exhibitions. She is vice-chairman of the Board of Directors of the Antwerp Culture Council, as well as vice-chairman of the Board of Directors of the  9 Antwerp Cultural Centra responsible for  Musea, Theatres and Libraries.
She paints in a variety of styles and techniques, among which the techniques of the 16-17 century Dutch and Flemish Masters, and uses a number of paint types (acryl, oil, and aquarel). She had major international exhibitions since 2000.
